art of speech making makes one a real human being!”
Such views were expressed by Prof. Anwar Ahmed Zai, Chairman Board of Intermediate Education Karachi, who was the Chief Guest of the Inter-Class Bilingual Declamation Contest, the first programme of the Students’ Week, organized by COMMECS Institute of Business and Emerging Sciences on December 12, 2009. Mr. Arshad Islam, President Commecs Old Students’ Association and Mr. Wali Rizvi, Senior Journalist NEWS ONE, were the Guests of Honour on the occasion.
Thirty students of fifteen classes participated in the contest for both serious and humorous topics in Urdu and English. After a very interesting competition the results were announced. The first positions in Urdu and English were bagged by Tehreem Tariq and Fizza Hasan of Toyota Room, respectively. For the second positions in Urdu and English, Nigah-e-Hasnain of Altaf Agha Room and Rida Zehra of Crescent II Room held the title. Whereas the third position in Urdu was awarded to Salman Abdul Ghafoor of Gatron and in English to Durr-e-Shahwar of Altaf Agha Room. The special prizes in Urdu and English were given to Zehra Hasan of Altaf Agha Room and to Asfia Gul of Kaiser Room.
The judges of the competition and the guest speakers applauded the potential and confidence of the young speakers and encouraged them for their future success. In the end of the programme, college shields were presented to the Chief Gust, Guests of Honour and Judges by Executive Director, Mr. Arif Dossal and the Principal CIBES, Commander (Retd.) Abdul Razaq PN.
